I Survived Christmas 2008!

Whew, what a holiday! Randy's parents and his sister came in from San Antonio to visit. They arrived Christmas Eve and after a yummy dinner of tamales and sangria, we played Hand and Foot (card game) until 2:00 in the morning.

Little Man got us up about 8:00 am Christmas morning and we drank coffee and watched him dive into his Santa loot. He got a Nerf Long Shot gun, lots of books, EyeClops Night Vision Goggles, candy/gum, Star Wars/Clone Wars DVD, some Nintendo DS games, Spurs Jersey, a Highland Park Scots sweatshirt, and a LETTER from Santa himself with a $100 bill.

He thought he had died and gone to heaven. I don't know why, but he has wanted a $100 bill for a long time. Doesn't want to spend it. Just thinks it is so cool to have one.

And now he does. We'll see how long he can hang onto it...

Santa even brought Miss Kitty a Scratching Post and a new water bowl that looks like a fountain so it has continuous water flow. God forbid she drink stagnant water! After a big brunch, we settled in to watch the San Antonio Suprs kick some Christmas boo-tay! Go Spurs!

Got a call from Venus that there was a big football game going down at the park, so off we went to work off our brunch. There was a gaggle of kids there because the weather was so nice.

Venus, Cenote and ET came over for our big Christmas dinner. I decided to be nontraditional and we cooked us up a Creole Cajun feast! I made Chicken and Sausage Gumbo (from my Brennan's cookbook), a Cajun Shrimp casserole and my world-famous Bread Pudding (okay, the recipe is from Pascal Manale's, so it's their world-famous recipe).

After dinner, we played cards for hours, drank a lot of champagne and I fell into bed completely full and exhausted about midnight. It was a fantastic holiday filled with family, friends and best of all - lots of holiday eats! Hope your Christmas was just as lovely!
