All work and lots of fun!

Last night, my magazine held a quarterly Happy Hour at a new restaurant in North Dallas called Go Fish Ocean Club. I have no idea how the food was - because I was talking non-stop for the two hours I was there and never got to take a bite of anything that was being passed around. But the place was beautiful.

Our March cover girl and local living legend, Ebby Halliday was our guest of honor. What an amazing woman. She is a Dallas icon and real estate mogul. 98 years old and still goes to work every day. Her secret to staying young? She told last night's crowd, "I don't drink. I don't smoke. And I will never retire." She's a little bity thing, all of 5 foot tall but what a powerhouse of energy and enthusiasm. It was an honor to meet her.
The other thrill of the night was talking to Daryl Johnston. He has a third-grade son and so do I. We played his flag-football team last season (as I talked about here) so we had that to talk about. He was so nice and, my God, is he GORGEOUS in person.
I walked up to him and introduced myself and after a minute of chit-chat I said, "So, what are you doing now?" And he says, "Well, I'm doing some broadcasting". The very minute I said it I could have killed myself. I mean, DUH, he's my favorite sportscaster on Fox. Such an idiot. But he was lovely and I was thrilled he came.

The party was a great success and I think everyone had a wonderful time. I came home and was so exhausted from the night that I went to bed at 9:00 pm. Now, it's 5:00 am and I am wide awake. Lovely. Have a great day everyone!
