Oh So Tasty: Savor in Klyde Warren Park

Savor is a modern gastropub located in on the North side of the uber-hip 5.2-acre Klyde Warren Park in Downtown Dallas. I was invited to come experience this new hot spot by Executive Chef John Coleman.  A Boston native, Coleman has spent the bulk of his 23-year culinary career with the luxury hotel chain The Ritz-Carlton as the Director of Food and Beverage, opening hotels across the world from Oman, Japan to Dallas. Now, it's his time to step into the spotlight and do his thing. My favorite thing about Savor isn't the food, but the ambiance. The glass walls and open floor plan provide a spectacular view onto the grounds of the Park.

Coleman has curated a menu of dynamic tastes and fresh ingredients that he hopes will reflect his culinary philosophy that food is meant to bring people together to enjoy an experience, rather than just a meal. He is joined at Savor by Joe Scigliano, Chef-Partner, whom he worked with at The Ritz-Carlton, Dallas. Scigliano worked alongside Coleman to develop the menu and curated the keg wall.  Savor is serving "simply prepared, fresh food sourced from top purveyors, and offering diners a vibrant combination of flavors."

Calamari  |  Craft Cocktails  |  Crab Cake

Menu items include Lobster Puffs with Maine lobster and comte cheese fritter and Roasted Salmon that is lightly smoked, bourbon cured and topped with a fennel and apple chutney. The gastropub features a keg wall with 12 craft beers and 16 wines on tap, which amounts to approximately 40,000 bottles of wine saved per year. I think I sampled pretty much everything on the menu and I preferred the apps to the entrees but give this place two thumbs up for a fun place to go on a date night, with the kids or a group of friends. Parents will LOVE this place because after you eat, the kids can run and play on the Park's lawns while you stay at your table (maintaining a vigilant eye on your child) and enjoy that glass of wine.

Savor is open for lunch and dinner Sunday – Thursday, 11 a.m. – 11 p.m. and Friday – Saturday, 11 a.m. – midnight. For more information or to make a reservation, visit or call 214-306-5597.
