Super Bowl XLV Party Crashers

I received a top-secret phone call last Thursday.  The mission - should I chose to accept it - was to hit the town Saturday night and try to crash all of the hottest Super Bowl parties the night before the Big Game.  I would be given a new tricked-out 2011 Ford Explorer to drive and a savvy posse of fellow-crashers. There were no tickets and no special access. The challenge was to drive up in a great car, bullshit our way into these exclusive events and document our journey.

I've always liked a challenge...  In college, my friends and I had a rule. Never stand in line, never pay cover and never pay for drinks.  It worked great when I was 20.  But could I still compete with a bevvy of the city's hottest gals who were ALL out on the same night?

My co-horts in crime and I met up for dinner at Villa-O Saturday evening to formulate our plan of attack. We came up with a list of the most high-profile parties and decided to start at the top and work our way down to see where we could get in.

Before the meal was even over, we had our first celebrity sighting.  Mark Harmon and Adrian Brody came in for dinner (together, which I found odd. Wouldn't have put those two together). The night was off to a great start.

Our first stop was the Maxim Magazine party at Fair Park.  How did we get in? Pure bullshit. We went through the press check-in, said we were press and they gave us wristbands. We never even showed credentials. Confidence and direct eye contact will take you far.

Our second stop was to be the Leather and Laces party at Hotel ZaZa hosted by Girls Next Door stars, Holly and Bridget. We got lucky here and ran into someone we knew outside who just happened to be leaving the party as we arrived.  And this person just happened to have a friend who was working for the promoter. Within 5 minutes of our arrival, we had seven VIP tickets and special gold wristbands to get us into the V-VIP area where the celebs were camped out.

The stars were aligned. What can I say?!  I came home and said, "Baby... I still got it!"

You can view the end result is of our crazy evening in this 2 minute video:

Good thing the next Super Bowl opportunity isn't for another 5 years. It's gonna take me that long to recoup!
