Accessible Luxury benefiting Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children to be held on April 11, 2014

Accessible Luxury is an annual event benefiting The Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children (TSRHC) that is an evening comprised of fashion, food, jewelry and cars.  I am honored to partner with them as a blog sponsor for this year's fundraiser and was invited over to the hospital last week to learn more about what they do at the hospital. Although I've driven by the building a thousand times, I had no idea the number of miracles that occur there every day! TSRHC is a world leader in the treatment of pediatric orthopedic conditions. Since 1921, TSRHC has treated children with orthopedic conditions, such as scoliosis, clubfoot, hand disorders, hip disorders and limb length differences, as well as certain related neurological disorders and learning disorders, such as dyslexia. Admission is open to children from birth up to 18 years of age. TSRHC, the only Scottish Rite hospital in the world, is not affiliated with the Shriners Hospitals for Children. I love that they will treat any patient - regardless of the family's ability to pay.

Getting a tour of the lab
Last week's luncheon brought me together with TSRHC staff and fellow bloggers Lauren Scruggs from Lolo Magazine, LeeAnne Locken from Inspiration by LeeAnne Locken,  Betsy Mitchell from Dallas Socials, Teia Collier from Life According to Teia and Lauren Murphy from Murphy's Law.

After a delightful lunch and an inspirational video about the hospital, we were given a tour of the lab where they custom make the prosthetic arms, hands, legs and more that alter the lives of these kids. Every limb made is custom to that child. They ask the patient, "What is it you want to do? Play the flute? Jump rope? Ride a bike? Twirl a baton?" And they create a hand or leg that allows that kid to do just that. Miraculous!

This year's soiree will fall on Friday, April 11th at the luxurious Park Place Premier Collection at 5300 Lemmon Avenue. The red carpet arrival begins at 7:00pm and the party will go on until 11:00pm.
