Why Twitter Rocks My World

It's hard to believe, but I know there are many of you who think Twitter is a waste of time. You don't get it. You don't know who to follow. You don't know what to say. You don't get what "@" and "RT" and "#" means.  It's just easier to not mess with it.

Well, let me tell you why Twitter is the best social site in the world for true enagagement.

There is no other medium on Earth that will give you direct access to the world's coolest, hippest, most famous, intellectual, moat talked-about people on the planet.  Here's a recent example:

Kyle Richards is on Bravo's "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills".  I follow the cast on Twitter, so all the ladies show up in my news stream. The other day, Kyle tweets this out...

This is the Monday after New Year's and I am sitting in my office working, so I respond....

And very shortly, Kyle responds...

This friendly, casual conversation have happened never on Facebook, because she doesn't know me and wouldn't have accepted my Friend Request.  It would have never happened at an event if I had walked up to her.  It would have never happened if I had written her a fan letter like people used to do waaaaaaaaay back in the day to their screen-idols in Hollywood.

But it can, and does, happen on Twitter. All the time.

So, give it a tryFollow people you find interesting, clever, admirable or provoking.  When they say something you like, @ reply back. And don't be surprised when they respond...  It makes learning something new (like Twitter) fun and worth the effort. And you'll be hooked before you know it.  I look forward to reading all about you.  140 characters at a time.
