Sean Lowe looks for true love on The Bachelor

The Bachelor debuted on ABC in 2002 and I honestly can't believe it's still on the air. I used to watch it and root for the Bachelor to find true love.  Only they never do. They find lust and 2 weeks after the show ends, the fame has gone to their heads and they are partying at the Playboy Mansion. Blech.

The search for Prince Charming and true love is one that is wired into a woman's DNA and hope springs eternal that not all men are pigs who think with their private parts (even if on some level, we know they all do). If the previews are any indication, this season's newest Romeo might actually be a decent guy with good intentions.

Born and raised in Texas, Sean Lowe, 28, won fans over during his run on Emily Maynard's season of The Bachelorette. As the second runner-up, Sean left the show brokenhearted, but still hopeful that he'd find love. Producers of The Bachelor came knocking soon after and Sean jumped on the opportunity.

"I want to start a family and just have a house that's full of love and laughter," the Dallas-based insurance agent says. "I want to spend my time hanging out with those that I love . . . That's what I want."  Though the single reality star loves being an uncle to his sister's two children, Lowe says, "I can only imagine how much that's going to intensify once I have my own kids." Lowe is eager to start the next chapter of his life with the woman of his dreams. "I know love's out there for me," he says. "With 25 women, I'm hoping that I can find it with one of them."  We hope so too, Sean. We really do.

Season 17 of The Bachelor premieres Monday, January 7, at 8 p.m. EST on ABC.
