Tonight, I moseyed out to my "happy place", the Dallas Arboretum, for the kickoff of the 10th Anniversary of Savor Dallas Food & Wine Festival. Savor Dallas brings dozens of great chefs and delicious cuisine together. Attendees can experience an exciting array of over 400 premium wines to satisfy the most discriminating palate. This is my kind of festival... The weather couldn't have been more perfect for tonight's kickoff event. Perusing the tasting stations were a who's who of the media world including Gary Cogill and Haley Hamilton, Bre Peterson from the Dallas CVB, Stuart Boslow from KTXD's The Broadcast, Farah Fleurima from Zagat, and Greg Fields from WFAA's Daybreak. Dallas Blooms is currently underway at the Dallas Arboretum, so the grounds provided an amazing floral array of eye candy. A group of 13+ ft. tall peacock topiaries provided a spectacular centerpiece for the food and wine stations stationed around the Arboretum grounds. A few of the chefs I was pleased to see participating were Uno Immanivon from Chino Chinatown and Eric Shelton from Kitchen LTO.
You still have time to take advantage of this fantastic festival. On Friday, March 21 Savor will offer a Wine Stroll in the Arts District and on Saturday, March 22 you can enjoy the International Grand Tasting at the Kay Bailey Hutchinson Convention Center in Dallas.
