Scenes from Stiletto Strut 2013

Star Children’s Charity partnered with Pat & Emmitt Smith Charities to host the 5th annual Stiletto Strut at Neiman Marcus Willow Bend on May 10, 2013. Stylish strutters such as Norma Johnson, Crystal Herrera, Daniel Lewis, Maggie Kipp, Shay Geyer, Angie Strange, Dawn Mellon, Jennifer Cloutier and Cindy Davis from Big Rich Texas kicked off the morning by joining hostess Pat Smith in Neiman's Shoe Department for a champagne reception & Shoe Auction. We then "strutted" up the escalator to the second floor for a private brunch & fashion show.  Proceeds will benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of Collin County, who provides more than 4,800 area children and teenagers a safe place to learn and grow during the vulnerable hours between school and home.  To learn more about Star Children's Charity, visit http://www.starchildrens.com.

Dress 4 Yellow brightens up the topic of cancer

The Dress 4 Yellow Fashion Show & Luncheon was held on March 28 at the beautiful Adolphus Hotel. Chaired by Lee Nagel and Jennifer Applebaum, this unique fashion show included original and archived designs inspired by the charity's mission to eradicate cancer and a “Yellow Brick Road” auction that included yellow accessories donated by celebrities.

We love oursleves a theme in Dallas — and socialites who turned up the volume in yellow included Doris Jacobs, Teffy Jacobs, Steve Kemble, Lynae Fearing, Dee and D'Andra Simmons, Lisa Pineiro, Courtney Kerr and Amy Vanderoef. After hitting the step-and-repeat, guests moved to the foyer to bid on silent auction items such as vintage jewelry from SHONA, Mizzen+Main dress shirts and Roma boots.

During the reception, guests could fill out cards honoring loved ones who have suffered from cancer.  Those cards were later displayed in the luncheon ballroom. After the champagne reception, everyone sauntered into the ballroom for the vintage-inspired fashion show. Minutes before the show was about to begin, LeeAnne Locken (who swears it was Cary Deuber) knocked over a mimosa onto the runway stage and I had to go sprinting out into the lobby in search of napkins. The last thing we needed was for a model to get a compound fracture! With that crisis averted, the magic began.

Meet the broads of The Broadcast

Lisa Pineiro, Pat Smith, Susie Humphreys and Courtney Kerr

What do philanthropist, motivational speaker (and Emmitt Smith's better half) Pat Smith, reality star and fashion blogger Courtney Kerr, and broadcast journalists Lisa Pineiro and Suzie Humphreys have in common? They are co-hosts of a new television show launching on KTXD-TV this February 18 (9:00 am) called D: The Broadcast. Picture "The View" with Susie being Barbara Walters, Courtney as Elizabeth Hasselbeck, Pat as Sherry Sheppard and Lisa as a younger version of Joy Behar.  The show will touch on various lifestyle and "news of the day" related topics. D Magazine's snarky editor, Tim Rogers, has rolled out a series of "interviews" to introduce the ladies. You can check out his posts here.

Late last year, D Magazine announced a partnership with London Broadcasting, which owns KTXD. The station will rebrand itself as D-TV one show at a time. For example, Kimberly Schlegel Whitman and Hillary Kennedy have a show on the station called Texas Living. It will soon be called D Living. Eventually, the station will begin a series of shows that focus on D Magazine features, like its top 10 lists.
