Parkie Pic of the Week

For those of you who live outside the area, University Park and Highland Park are together called Park Cities. Citizens of these fabled towns are called "Parkies". Hence, my weekly fun feature which I call "Parkie Pic of the Week" in which I like to highlight an unusual or spectacular feature of my neighborhood.

Unless you know what you're looking for, this house is almost invisible from the street. Its windowless facade of ragged limestone blocks is easy to mistake for a waterfront bulkhead along Turtle Creek, which runs behind the property, or maybe an overgrown quarry.

The owners of this home also bought the Pump House next door, a 1915 structure renovated by Dallas architect Gary Cunningham, which still holds the generator and some of the old pumps that used to supply all the water to the township of Highland Park. It now serves as an adjunct gallery for changing installations.
