Holiday Wrap Up: Ashley Kelly

The holidays have ended and New Year has arrived, so I asked some of Dallas' most famous faces to reflect back and tell me what they most enjoyed about this holiday season and if they have set a New Year's Resolution for themselves.

Star of Logo's The A List: Dallas

"2011 held some very unexpected events for me. While I didn't audition for the show "The A-List: Dallas," it somehow found me and wouldn't take no for an answer. As a result, I was thrown into the limelight and given some of the most amazing opportunities, relationships, and invaluable experiences I've ever had. I got to travel all over the country, meet fans who claim my relationship with the Lord has inspired them, and build new and lasting business relationships.

Ashley and Justin Kelly

I think the sweetest thing about 2011 was watching my bunny grow and change with me. I am so thankful for my sweet Justin Kelly, who has been by my side every single step of the way! Even though I don't deserve ANY of these blessings, I am so thankful for the Lords grace and can't wait for 2012. I already have 12 weddings booked for HD photography and 9 weddings booked for HD videography! I also have another huge business endeavor which I can't really talk about yet, but I can give you a little hint: "The higher the heel, the closer to Heaven!"

If you don’t know … Cynthia Smoot does. She’s got the inside track on Dallas’ social scene and the pictures to prove it. Smoot took her “mommy blog” and transformed it into ohsocynthia.com, a popular lifestyle blog chronicling everything big in the Big D. When she’s not tweeting, she’s running the Gangway Advertising agency with husband Randy and cheering on her 11-year-old son Jackson at one of his lacrosse games. #Howdoesshedoit? - Dallas Child Magazine

Holiday Wrap Up: Levi Crocker

The holidays have ended and New Year has arrived, so I asked some of Dallas' most famous faces to reflect back and tell me what they most enjoyed about this holiday season and if they have set a New Year's Resolution for themselves.

Star of Logo's The A List: Dallas

"I had one of the most stressful, exciting, painful, adventurous and uncertain years of my entire life and grew so much as an individual. I wouldn't trade one single minute of it. Over the last 12 months I have made so many new friends but I unfortunately did loose a couple old ones. Very interesting how life moves us all forward...

I'm looking  great things to happen over the next 12 months and I have some projects to work on. I don't know if there will be a Season 2 of The A-List Dallas as of right now but if there is I'll be wrapped up in that for several months. I'm planning a big campaign to shine some light on the very serious topic of Bullying/Hate, possibly in conjunction with another anti-hate/bullying organization or two, details coming soon.

Throughout 2011 we have all made so many huge steps in the right towards equality, 2012 is another 12month opportunity to keep that ball rolling and I want to do everything I can to help. So, no resolutions to loose weight or stop swearing... I will be a part of my community and stay involved in the quest for equality.

Mwah!! Happy 2012!"

Holiday Wrap Up: Jane McGarry

As the New Year approaches, I asked some of Dallas' most famous faces to reflect back and tell me what they most enjoyed about this holiday season and if they have set a New Year's Resolution for themselves.

"This Christmas holiday I spent an entire week in the beautiful ski resort of Big Sky Montana, known for getting record snowfalls every year, and never once hit the slopes!  Nope, instead (of being out skiing) I am holed up with my 18 year-old, helping critique and polish college essays that he put off until the very last minute, literally. We're frantically working on three essays now, with 3 still to go tomorrow, that are due January 1st.

Actually, sitting here in my rustic cabin right now, I feel a bit like Thoreau in his "on Walden Pond" period.  And I never really liked Thoreau.  So, my New Year's resolution is to go somewhere sandy, sunny and sultry in 2012 - without my son."

Have a Spot of Bubbly this Holiday Season

What's your drink of choice? A glass of earthy Cabernet Savignon? Jack Daniels and Coke over ice? Maybe a Vodka Martini?

Champagne is my preferred libation.  But don't let that fool you into thinking I'm a high-maintenance diva. Au contraire. I keep my fridge stocked with Freixenet. It's $9.99 at Tom Thumb and I looooove it. Sometimes you can find it at Target and use their coupons.  So, I was thrilled when I came home recently to find a package on my doorstep from Freixenet. I was even more gleeful when I realized it was not one big bottle, but sample of new MINI bottles they had sent me!

MINI BOTTLES!

This is so exciting because anyone who drinks champagne knows that once you pop the cork, you have about a 24 hour window before the bottle goes flat. I love a bit of the bubbly now and again, but I don't necessarily want (or need) to drink a whole bottle! So, this new mini size is perfect for when you just want a glass with dinner or to have with dessert.  At a retail price of $3, they are so affordable!!

Check out the Freixenet website for lots of fun cocktail recipes.  Cheers to 2012!

Follow the Cast of Texas Multi Mamas

Hold on to your high chairs, we have a new reality show set to debut Tuesday, December 27 on WE TV! WE tv's new series Texas Multi Mamas is an energetic look inside the lives of a group of Texas women with big personalities, staunch opinions, and wild lives as they support each other in their moms of multiples group.

Although the show is called Texas Mutli Mamas, it should have been called Dallas Multi Mamas because all of the stars of this new show are from our own backyard! Tonia lives in Plano, Candace lives in Dallas, Suz lives in Ft. Worth, Teryn lives in McKinney, Casey lives in Murphy and Stephanie lived in Allen (when the show filmed - sounds like she has since moved).

Here's a sneak peek at what you can expect to see this season:

I have a feeling this show's gonna make me thank baby Jesus that I only have one child. Just sayin'.

Here's how you can follow, tweet and post with these busy Mamas:

Khloe Kardashian Plays Santa at Dallas City Hall

Khloe with Mayor Mike Rawlings
Khloe Kardashian introduced herself to Dallas today when she hosted a Toy Drive benefiting Children's Medical Center at City Hall in downtown Dallas.  An estimated crowd of over 1,000 people formed a line that wrapped around the sprawling complex, all hoping for a moment with Dallas' newest celebrity resident.

Dallas City Mayor, Mike Rawlings, escorted Khloe into the lobby of City Hall. Rawlings complimented Khloe for reaching out to Children's Medial Center after only being in town a few days and presented her with a Dallas Cowboys edition Monopoly game.

Dallas is a hot-bed for reality TV shows right now and several stars turned out to welcome Khloe and support the cause including Pilar Sanders, former VH1 star of Football Wives and Oxygen's Deion and Pilar: Prime Time Love, and Brooke Jeter from CMT's Texas Women.

Khloe and a fan
"I already do a lot of work with Children's Hospital Los Angeles, and now that I live here, I want to start doing work with this hospital," Khloe wrote in a blog post.

Noelle Dugan, Senior Director of PR and Marketing for Children's Medical Center told me that they "knew Khloe had worked with children's hospitals in L.A., so we knew this was a cause she has been supportive of.  We have over 300 kids in the hospital who will be spending Christmas with us, so it was really awesome of her to do something so quickly that will have such a positive impact on the City of Dallas."

"Holy cow! Over 3 thousand people showed up to city hall in Dallas!! Thank you ALL so much for donating toys and your time!!"  tweeted Khloe after today's event.

Minutes after that she tweeted again exclaiming, "The Children's Hospital will be thrilled!!! You all did such an amazing act of kindness! This will make so many young kids and teens smile!"

James Doyle goes Shopping

Did you watch the reunion show for Logo TV's A List Dallas hosted by Wendy Williams this past Monday? Whoo, girl! The finger-waving! The head bobbing!  The eye-rolling!  Those gays know how to turn on the drama!

So, what will become of our sweet James Doyle?  The show portrayed him as a hard-drinking party-boy, wandering aimlessly in life with no clear direction or purpose. With his trust fund dwindling, James was actually (gasp) looking for work!

Hey... wait... that sounds like most 20-something year-olds I know!

The show ended with James packing up his car and heading off into the sunset for Los Angeles to pursue acting. Just the place for a hard-drinking party-boy, wandering aimlessly in life with no clear direction or purpose should be to find himself!

Well, have no fear, because James is still here in Dallas. He's just making trips out to LA for auditions and the like.  James told me, "I'm working on a few thing like a clothing line, a press tour coming up, and I have a (small-scale) movie in the works".

One fun project James recently completed is already racking up page views for a song called "Shopping".  Performer, Richard D. Curtin, taps into impulsive retail therapy with "Shopping".   This new single is modeled after the likes of "Material Girl" and "(How Much Is) That Doggie in the Window?" This electro cut bursts with a bouncy groove mixed by DJ Erik Thoresen.

Look for a cameo by "A-List: Dallas" cast member James Doyle as "Manny," the clerk who steers our money-hungry consumabot on a spending binge. And check out The ShopTarts, a squadron of go-go boys who aren't afraid of gold heels.

Khloe and Lamar Will Live at the W Hotel and Residences in Dallas

Many sources are claiming that Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom will making their Dallas nest at The Azure highrise.

But my sources tell me that the couple is thiiiiis close to inking a deal to take over the fully-furnished 2-bedroom highrise pad at the W Hotel and Residences from Mack Hicks, son of Tom Hicks who is a venture partner in the W.

They love the fact that it comes furnished and is move-in ready.  And the fact that it's a stones throw away from American Airlines Center, where the Mavs play, doesn't hurt either!

I also hear that Allie Beth Allman, no stranger to high-profile-athlete clients, did the deal. In fact, they liked Allie Beth so much, they mic’ed her up for Khloe & Lamar, the couple’s reality TV show.

Rigley, Kardashian and Healy
UPDATE (12/20)   While Joseph Gulloto at Dave Perry-Miller & Assoc. showed Khloe, Lamar, Rob and his girlfriend all over town this past weekend, they are now working with Steve Rigley and Rogers Healy at Rogers Healy & Associates.

Candy Evans at Candy's Dirt says, "Though no papers have been signed: Rogers insists his company is repping Khloe."  Candy also speculates that the appartment at the W might be better suited for Rob Kardashian and not Khloe and Lamar.

It looks like the only thing that is for certain is that the Khlomar clan will end up in Uptown.  The saga continues...

Khloe Kardashian Gets Warm Reception at First Mavs Game

You know that stuff about how "family is the most important thing" and "blood's thicker than water" and "family comes first".  That was put to the test this weekend when US Weekly contacted me and asked if I would like to attend the first Dallas Mavericks game as a local correspondent for them and cover the game (which really means talk about Khloe Kardashian and what she was wearing and if she ate nachos).

I had to turn them down to attend a holiday dinner at my sister's house with the maternal side of my family (sigh). And then when I told them about my stupendous sacrifice, all anyone could say was, "Why didn't you go!?".  Yeah...  Another local blogger, Farah Fleurima stepped in to represent for the Dallas blogger community and apparently had a great time, even getting to go into the Mavs locker room to meet Odom and Mav's owner, Mark Cuban.  Stupid family.

But, enough about me... let's get to the good stuff: Khloe Kardashian.

Mark Cuban chats up Khloe  |  Khloe with Ali Dee

The E! reality star and her Tweety Bird yellow Hermes Birkin bag sat in a primo seat alongside her makeup artist, Rob Scheppy, as Lamar piled up fourteen points and seven rebounds during a 106-92 losing effort.  She was very accommodating to fans asking to get a photo with her and even ran into local reality TV stars, Drew Ginsburg from Bravo's Most Eligible Dallas and Ali Dee from CMT's Texas Women (who also happens to be the "First Lady of the  Dallas Mavericks)

Bubbling with excitement over catching her man in action with Dallas, Khloe sent out a pre-game tweet reading, "Yay!!! On my way to the first pre-season game with @robscheppy to see my Lam play for the @dallasmavs. Woooohoooo"

She was apparently bowled over by our Southern charm and Texas twangs because she ended the night by tweeting, "Wow Dallas you guys are so freaking nice to me! Thank me!!! What a warm welcome! :) thank you @dallasmavs and everyone I have met :)"

Fashionistas Holiday Soiree Sparkled with Stars

LeeAnne Locken, Danielle Vollmar & Pamela Martin
Cathy Vieth, Dr. Aneeta Goomar and Dr. Sandy Sule, Susie Straubmueller and Janet and Rick Fresquez hosted a holiday shopping event and Christmas party for the Fashionistas last Thursday at the showroom of local designer, Prashe.

The party atmosphere was rockin' courtesy of DJ Gumbo and later in the evening, we got a special "surprise guest DJ" in Heidi Dillon!

There was lots of sipping and nibbling and milling about.  Natalie Solis from FOX News, Taylor Garrett from Logo's A List: Dallas, Danielle Vollmar from CW33 new national morning show, Eye Opener, Terri Provencal, Jorge's Tex-Mex owner Michelle Mireles, former Dallas Cowboy Ryan and his reality TV-star wife, Dawn Neufeld, were among the stars glittering in this high-voltage crowd.

Good thing I had visited Jared Reed at Salon Pompeo in Uptown to get my hair and makeup done because this was a star-studded event! It takes a village to keep up, people...

Heidi Dillon took control of the dance floor as the evening's guest DJ
The main reason I was there was to observe the filming that was taking place for Big Rich TexasConnie Dieb, Pamela Martin, Heidi Dillon and LeeAnne Locken were there filming a juicy scene about... oh, you know I'm not going to tell you what the story line was! That would ruin all the fun. You'll just have to wait and see.  And I may, or may not, make a background appearance. Depends on how they edit the scene.

The Khloe Sightings in Dallas Have Begun

Khloe Kardashian has only been in town a few days and the sightings are starting to spread over Facebook and Twitter like a bad cold.

Photographer, Danny Campbell, spotted Khloe shopping at Restoration Hardware on Knox St.  Could this mean that she and Lamar have already selected a new abode?!

KHKS disc jockey and bar owner, Big Al Mack is no novice when it comes to using a shameless plug to get himself on camera. And hey! It worked! He hung up a huge banner announcing that "All Kardashians Drink Free. Especially Rob!" at his watering hole on McKinney Ave. and look who showed up, camera crew in tow.

If you have a Khloe sighting, let me know! Email me or holler at me on Facebook or Twitter because inquiring minds want to know!

Deion and Pilar Sanders Announce Divorce on Facebook

You may have seen former Dallas Cowboy and NFL Hall of Famer Deion Sanders hosting the pregame show for his old team against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but as soon as he was cleared from the air he announced he's getting a divorce via Facebook.

Pilar Sanders was one of six wives and girlfriends featured on the VH1 reality show Football Wives last fall and in 2008 the couple appeared on their own reality show on Oxygen called Deion & Pilar: PrimeTime Love.

To My Friends and Family,
Pilar and I have decided to end our marriage and move on to the next phase of our individual lives with mutual respect. We are friends and our top priority has and will continue to be the well-being of our children. We arrived at this decision prayerfully and carefully in order to be able to pursue what is in both of our best personal interests. Neither Pilar or I will be discussing this any further and thank you in advance for respecting the privacy of our family. Truth
Half an hour later Sanders "liked" a link from TMZ with an "exclusive" that Sanders told TMZ he was was divorcing his wife, though the quotes appear to be those of his Facebook post.  There were rumors the couple was headed for divorce in late September but Deion Sanders came out with a strongly worded denial.

Deion and Pilar Sanders have been married for twelve years and have three children together.  The couple have a 30,000 sq ft home on 100 acres in Prosper, 35 miles north of Dallas.

Ryan Seacrest is cheap

I told you earlier this week that Ryan Seacrest and his team will be following Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom to Dallas to film their reality TV show, Khloe & Lamar.

Word has it that they will be bringing in their own producing team and crew but they are looking for local Production Assistants for the show.  The bad news? They are only paying $8 an hour!

Is that even minimum wage?!

My insider tells me, "When these shows get bigger budgets, the money goes to the cast and top Producers. But this is the lowest pay I have ever heard of for this kind of show!"

Ryan, maybe you haven't heard, but we do things bigger and better here in Texas - and includes taking care of our people. So, pony up rich man, it's not like you can't afford to pay your people a decent wage! That's just an insult to these professionals. (Sadly, he'll get it because someone will just want to work on this show bad enough to live with their Mama and eat Ramen Noodles to take that pittance.)

Will Khloe bring DASH to Dallas?

Kourtney, Khloe & Kim Kardashian
Local fashion writers and wearers are drooling with excitement over the possibility that Khloe Kardashian's move to Dallas may also bring with her their clothing boutique, DASH.  The woman isn't even here yet and the rumor mills are in full swing.

It's not such a far-fetched idea to think that it could happen.  As Lisa Petty reported in her recent article for DFW Style Daily, "It’s worth noting, that SMU alum Kourtney Kardashian recently told Shape magazine that the next city in which she’d like to open a DASH boutique is Dallas. The subject also came up when this reporter interviewed that other Kardashian sister, Kim, back in February, though only in vague terms."

Local reporters are not the only ones pondering this theory. An in-the-know OSC reader forwarded me this email her office received from a reporter at TMZ. One would assume they are contacting every possible location in town looking for the scoop.

 Get in line Morgan!

What do you think? Would DASH be a welcome addition to the fashion scene? Or would you shop there just to catch a glimpse of its famous owner?!

Ashley Kelly shoots Eden Wood for Cicciabella shoes

Reality TV worlds collided today when A-List Dallas star Ashley Kelly (who happens to be a professional photographer) shot retired pageant superstar Eden Wood in Belton, Texas today for Cicciabella, a chic children's boot line.

Look at that smirk on Eden's face.  Whoo hoo! She has personality plus, let me tell ya.  I look at her and thank baby Jesus that I had a little boy. Not that she isn't adorable, but there's only room for one diva in my house... and that's me.  Eden is best known for her appearance on TLC's Toddlers and Tiaras. Watch the video below for a little glimpse into her greatness:

I bet Ashley is plumb worn out after a day with this little dynamo!  I can't wait to see the campaign. I'm sure Ashley did an amazing job!  Work it, girl!

Watch out ladies! Rob Kardashian is also heading to Dallas

Rob Kardashian
Odom told Us Weekly that Khloe's little brother, 24-year-old Rob Kardashain and Khloe's best friend Malika Haqq will arrive in Dallas soon to film upcoming episodes of "Khloe & Lamar."

"We'll have the whole family here," Odom, 32, said. "Khloe is a great wife. She'll make anywhere feel like home."  The former Los Angeles Laker also revealed he is settling in to his new life in Texas.

"[Dallas] is a great city," he said. "It reminds me a lot of Beverly Hills [or] Orange County. You can tell the city is really behind their team. It's a more relaxed atmosphere here, too, which is nice."

"I'm disappointed to leave my home, but I'm here now," Odom added. "I'm a Maverick."

Malika Haqq and Khloe K. Odom
If you have Kardashian scoop or sightings - let me know by shooting me an email. All information will be anonymous (unless you want credit for the scoop).

Friends of The Park Celebrate the Holidays at Tootsies

Missy Wyszynski, Alison Volk and ???
Friends of The Park hosted a holiday soiree at Tootsies (a.k.a. The Toots) last Thursday. Guests enjoyed light bites, holiday cocktails and jewelry designs from Roc Candy with a special appearance from designer, Ashley LaRocca. 15% of the evenings proceeds went to benefit Friends of The Park.

Movers-and-shakers like Missy Wyszynski, Alison Volk, Rhonda Sargent Chambers, Shona Gilbert and Damany Daniel were on hand to show their support for The Park.

Not familiar with The Park project? Five acres of shared, public green space will deck over the existing Woodall Rodgers Freeway, creating the largest public park project in Dallas. Ah, NOW you know what I'm talking about, right?  You've been wondering what all that construction on Woodall Rodgers was about! Now, you know.

Shona Gilbert and Rhonda Sargent Chambers
Plans include a performance pavilion, restaurant, walking trails, a dog park, a children’s discovery garden and playground, water features, an area for games and much more.

The first 25 of 332 trees were recently planted.  Now, planting trees above a freeway doesn’t happen every day, but The Park's structural engineers and landscape architect designed structural box beams to allow the trees to grow at grade with the rest of The Park while preserving the necessary traffic clearances in the tunnel.

If you’ve driven by The Park or checked out their webcam photos, you might have seen the square-shaped gaps between the beams – these will serve as the planters for the 300-plus trees. Tree sizes will be determined by the use of root barriers, but the trees will nevertheless reach mature heights of up to 40 feet.

Ashley LaRocca and her Mother with a few of her beautiful Roc Candy designs

All of The Park’s trees are native and adaptive species, making them lower-maintenance and facilitating our efforts to keep them healthy.  The tree species – Texas-native Shumard’s Red Oak, Bur Oak, Pond Cypress, River Birch, Pistache and Lacebark Elm - were selected specifically for their durability and have been cultivated for the city climate. Landscaping will also include 32 native Texas species out of 37 total plant species.

Visit the website to find out how you can volunteer, donate or become a Friend of The Park to help bring this project to life!

Lamar Odom at Dallas Mavericks Media Day

Nothing new to report. Just some fun photos from Dallas Mavericks Media Day where they introduced their newest players; Lamar Odom... and some other guys.  Lamar's new number? Lucky number 7. Hopefully, that's a good sign of the luck he will bring his new team.

So, what does Khloe think of Lamar's new look? Like any good wife, she gave a shout out to her man on Twitter today to declare him, "Soooo handsome!!!!"

Townhouse Kitchen+Bar Kicks Off with Cattle Baron's

Townhouse Kitchen + Bar will open to the public on Friday, December 16, but they held a private preview last Thursday for supporters of the Cattle Baron's.  I loved the decor; it featured warm wood-paneled walls, beautiful hardwood flooring, an alluring wine wall and floor-to-ceiling windows. It's a distinctively urban restaurant and wine bar that provides an elegant yet casual feel, ideal for lunch, dinner or after-work cocktails.

Maggie Cooke Kipp, Andrea Weber & Janet Fresquez

Guests showed up in their holiday best, which means there was lots of fur and sparkles.  And I finally met someone who takes more photographs than me at events - Nancy Gopez. This dynamo was working the room, flashing her camera and capturing guests dazzling smiles.  I ended up just trailing her around the space to meet everyone. Nancy, you can be a Guest Contributor for me anytime! This lady knows how to cover an event!

Janie Condon, Kristi Hoyl, Piper Wyatt & Nancy Gopez
From the press release:
“Executive Chef Paul Niekrasz will show us his innate talent for preparing bold flavors and market-fresh ingredients with Townhouse’s uniquely designed menu offering a large selection of small plates, sandwiches, salads and entrees to suit any taste. Niekrasz has worked with Restaurants America for more than five years and was most recently the Executive Chef of Grillroom and One North Kitchen in Chicago, Illinois.

Menu stand-outs include appetizers like the lobster roll ‘sliders’ (Hawaiian style rolls, Old Bay remoulade, crispy capers, chives and apple-celery salad) and flatbread ortolano with fontina, roasted garlic, arugula, grape tomatoes and balsamic. Specialty entrees include lemon rosemary chicken with jalapeƱo hash browns and broccolini, roasted pork loin (with hazelnuts, brussel sprouts and bacon, polenta and salsa verde) and Cajun rubbed New York strip (with fried onion strings, Swiss chard and tomatoes).   For those meeting colleagues or friends for after-work drinks, Townhouse will feature a selection of hand-crafted cocktails, draft beers and wines by the glass or bottle. Ryan Seacrest is also following Khloe and Lamar to Dallas!

It hasn't even been 48 hours since it was announced that Lamar Odom had been traded from the L.A. Lakers to the Dallas Mavericks and the blogs and social platforms are blowing UP!

Yeah, yeah... Lamar's a great player and the Mavericks are lucky to have him. But what we're all really wondering, is if Lamar's reality star wife, Khloe Kardashian will leave the bright lights of L.A. to follow her man to Big D?!

The good news (or bad news depending on which side of the fence you are on) is that Ryan Seacrest and his team have already met to discuss a reality show in Dallas featuring Lamar and Khloe. Seacrest is the executive producer of the Kardashian reality shows.  TMZ backs up this story, which means it must be true, right?!

Lamar has already made his way to Dallas to report to Mavericks camp.  Khloe tweeted that she's "missing him already".  Sounds like Khloe isn't wasting any time following her man to town, tweeting earlier today that she was "packing up the house" that she would be "back and forth" between LA and Dallas.

I, for one, say, "Welcome to town Odom family! I can't wait to get to know you!"
